TRUMP & PROFITS OVER SURVIVORS
New York- Today, March 13, 2024 –– In response to CHUBB’s CEO Evan G. Greenberg’s comments claiming the company is “not taking sides” after deciding to back former President Donald Trump’s $91.6 million bond in the E. Jean Carroll case, the Coalition for Just and Compassionate Compensation (“CJCC”) – an independent alliance of survivors of child sex abuse, their representatives, and advocates seeking full restitution for survivors of child sex abuse – released the following statement:
“This is not the first instance of Chubb actively ignoring society’s moral compass – it is simply the most newsworthy. When given the opportunity to make millions to the detriment of survivors of sexual abuse, CHUBB has always chosen the money,” said David Catalfamo, Executive Director of the CJCC. “CHUBB has done so with President Trump, they are doing so with survivors of sexual abuse in schools and parishes around the country, and they will surely continue to do so until their regulators wake up. The Coalition for Just and Compassionate Compensation again calls on the New York Department of Financial Services to do its job and require Chubb to comply with their intended guidance of the Child Victims Act.”
Amid record profits, CHUBB has been acting in direct violation of the DFS’ very own 2019 Insurance Circular Letter, which outlined the Department’s expectations for insurance companies like Chubb to “cooperate fully with the intent of the Child Victims Act.”
